A statue of pioneering 19th Century mathematician Ada Lovelace has been installed in the town outside the NWS College, Hinckley Campus, Lower Bond Street, Hinckley.
The Ada Lovelace in Hickley Community Interest Company, which was behind the project, said the loction was chosen to inspire girls and young women to study science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Project leader Stan Rooney said "We were motivated by people's natural desire to have pride in the place in which they live, while bringing prestige and tourist interest to the town. The initiative has been driven by a small group of residents, devoting themselves to ensuring the project succeeded, supported by financial contributions from Rotary Clubs, History Clubs and residents."
